Since 2021 the new VAT rules for import to the EU and UK have come into force.

And as a result, the threshold of €22 is not applicable any longer for the goods imported to the EU.

With the new Lovat service, you may run your business and we will take care of your VAT liabilities.

*We only provide IOR services for low-value imports to the UK and the EU.

What does importer of record mean:

That means that the intermediary will collect and report all VAT payable for the import of low-value goods.

  • You do not need to be IOSS registered selling to the EU
  • You do not need to be VAT registered selling to the UK
  • You will be provided with the LOVAT IOSS/ UK VAT number
  • Lovat will act as a deemed seller for transactions under €150 or £135
  • Lovat will be liable for paying VAT
  • Lovat will be liable for VAT calculating and reporting of your sales under €150 or £135

Who may need our service:

Companies

  • selling low-value goods from Non-EU location to the EU
  • selling low-value goods to the UK

What is low-value parcel:

The cumulative price of the order (without VAT and shipment) is less than:

  • £135 for the UK
  • €150  for EU

Example 1:  online shop sends a coat with the inclusive price of €170  +€10  Shipment from the UK to Germany

It is a low-value parcel.  Because 170/119* 100 = €142.50  – intrinsic value of the parcel. That means that online shop fills IOSS number in CN22 form and pays VAT at the end of the month.

Example 2:

The online shop sends a suitcase with inclusive price of £170 +£15  Shipment from France to the UK

It is not a low-value parcel. 20% is the UK standard VAT rate.  Because 170/120* 100 = £141.67  – the intrinsic value of the parcel. That means that online shops do not fill any VAT number in CN22 form and customers will pay VAT at the arrival of a parcel.

Note:  Due to IOSS rules the parcel with a value of over €150 can’t be VAT paid under the simplified scheme. Lovat Importer of Record Service cannot be provided for transactions over €150.

  • We offer a fixed price of €1.8 per parcel
