Product update

KSeF token management for Poland

Polish clients using Lovat Invoice тепер can now store and manage KSeF (Krajowy System e-Faktur) authentication tokens directly in the Country Specifics section of the platform. The token status is visible in real time, giving users instant clarity on their e-invoicing credentials as Poland moves toward mandatory e-invoicing. There is no longer a need to maintain tokens outside the system — everything is handled in one place, ensuring businesses remain continuously connected to Poland’s national invoicing infrastructure.

Extended EPR Help Center resources

A dedicated EPR Declaration Guides section is now live in the Lovat EPR Help Center, available to all users holding an active EPR subscription. The section offers downloadable PDF guides sorted by country and EPR category, with built-in filtering and direct in-app access. From packaging declarations in Germany to EEE submissions in France, the materials are structured to support accurate, timely filings — helping businesses reduce the risk of errors that invite regulatory scrutiny or financial penalties.

New service — EU Authorized Representative for packaging manufacturers

Non-EU packaging manufacturers can now access the EU Authorized Representative (AR) service through their Lovat account. The service covers:

  • Formal appointment of an EU Authorized Representative under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
  • Assistance with drafting declarations of conformity
  • Packaging compliance preparation ahead of PPWR’s mandatory harmonised labelling deadlines

This is especially relevant for any brand whose name or logo appears on packaging sold in the EU — under PPWR, such businesses may qualify as manufacturers and bear direct regulatory obligations.

Usage limit alerts

Lovat now sends automated notifications when a user’s plan is nearing its usage threshold. This update gives businesses the visibility needed to avoid unexpected service disruptions and plan subscription upgrades well in advance — particularly valuable during peak reporting periods when declaration volumes are at their highest.

US Sales Tax — add transactions within a declaration

Users can now enter transactions directly inside a Sales Tax declaration, without leaving the page to visit the Transactions section. This change simplifies the US sales tax filing workflow, cutting down the number of steps needed to complete and submit a return.

Allegro marketplace integration

Allegro — Poland’s dominant e-commerce platform — is now available as a native integration within Lovat. Connecting an Allegro store enables automatic data synchronisation, channelling transaction data directly into tax and EPR reporting workflows and eliminating the need for manual file exports and imports.

EPR news

Extended producer responsibility requirements are intensifying across the EU and the United States, with several major deadlines falling in the months ahead. Here are the most critical EPR developments for April 2026.

What EU brands must do to meet PPWR obligations as a manufacturer — 6 key steps

Under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), any business whose brand name appears on packaging may be treated as the manufacturer — even where production is fully outsourced. That classification brings substantial compliance obligations.

Mandatory harmonised labelling takes effect on 12 August 2026. All packaging placed on the EU market must carry the correct recyclability symbols, sorting guidance, and material information. Businesses should act now: map packaging SKUs, revisit supplier agreements, and assess whether an EU Authorized Representative must be appointed before the deadline.

EU Waste Shipments Regulation 2024/1157 — effective 21 May 2026

Regulation 2024/1157 fully supersedes the previous 2006 waste shipments framework starting 21 May 2026. The updated regulation makes digital document exchange via the DIWASS platform mandatory — a new EU-wide system governing notifications and approvals for cross-border waste movements.

Any business that exports or imports waste across EU borders must transition its internal procedures from paper-based documentation to the DIWASS digital workflow. Continued use of legacy processes after the effective date may result in shipments being refused or returned. Businesses should audit current workflows and implement the required changes ahead of the May deadline. Learn more about EPR compliance in Europe

New York updates battery EPR compliance requirements

Following a 2025 amendment to New York’s rechargeable battery EPR law, manufacturers must file updated compliance plans by 17 June 2026. The amendment expanded the programme’s scope to include e-mobility batteries — such as those used in electric bicycles and scooters — alongside the rechargeable battery categories already covered by the original legislation.

Manufacturers selling rechargeable batteries or battery-powered products in New York should verify whether their products fall within the expanded scope, update compliance documentation accordingly, and confirm their producer responsibility organisation (PRO) membership is current before the June deadline.

California advances textile EPR under SB 707

California’s SB 707 — the first textile EPR law in the United States — is reaching its next key milestone. From 1 July 2026, textile producers are required to be registered with the programme’s approved Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO).

Businesses selling clothing, footwear, and home textiles in California should determine whether they qualify as a “textile producer” under the statute, prepare for PRO registration, and review the programme’s fee structure and reporting obligations. Registering early avoids last-minute complications that could affect market access or prompt compliance notices.

Tax news

Belgium VAT — new payment bank account from 1 May 2026

The Belgian tax authority (SPF Finances / FOD Financiën) will switch to a new VAT payment account number effective 1 May 2026.

  • Until 30 April 2026: payments go to BE22 6792 0030 0047
  • From 1 May 2026: payments must be sent to BE41 6792 0036 4210

All businesses VAT-registered in Belgium must update their payment records before the changeover. Transfers directed to the old account after 30 April risk being misrouted and may not reach the VAT authority in time, potentially generating late payment penalties even if the funds left your account on schedule. Update bank templates, standing orders, and any third-party payment systems referencing Belgian VAT remittance before April ends. Learn more about VAT compliance in Belgium

VAT and customs in cross-border trade — closing the compliance gap

Every customs transaction in cross-border trade has a corresponding VAT implication — and the disconnect between customs and VAT systems is one of the most frequent sources of audit exposure for internationally active businesses.

Recurring problem areas include failure to match the Movement Reference Number (MRN) from customs declarations with the relevant VAT records; incorrect treatment of freight costs when calculating customs value; and absent or misapplied reverse charge entries for import VAT. Each gap may seem minor in isolation but can create significant liability when tax authorities run a cross-system review.

Lovat’s guide to VAT and customs compliance in cross-border trade explains how customs declarations, import VAT, and domestic VAT reporting interrelate — and where the most common mismatches occur.
